Well leaving the D.R. was one the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. While I was there I had built such good and strong relationships with the people in the church especially the youth of our church. And I think one of the worst thing was having to say goodbye twice, because we had our going away party one night and then Anthem and I went to the resort and then I had to go back and play drums that Sunday and they prayed for me and then I had to say goodbye again, not fun. I know some of are thinking so when are you gonna go back? Well the answer is I am going to start school at SPSCC and start working towards my AA degree and then see where God takes me from there, but I am gonna go back and visit in December but just to visit. I know that I wanna go back for another long period of time but I am not sure when that will happen or if it will. And most important I just wanna thank all the people who supported me in this trip with finances and prayers it really meant a lot and I just wanted to say Thank You So Much!!! It was probably the best year of my life and you had a part in that so Thank You again!!

One God. One Love. It was a lot of fun we walked around and I bought a couple of CD'S while I was there to, we ate some food and had a lot of fun. But the craziest thing happened when we were there we were at this little concert in this small room and I left with one of my friends because it was really hot, we were sitting outside just listening and then all of the people started running out of the room and I was like what the heck this is weird. Then one of my friends came running and said some guy had a gun and I started looking around the people I was with to see where they were at and when I was looking I saw two cops walking with two guys in between them and one of the guys and a knife in his stomach and was being held of by his friend. It was crazy we kinda freaked out so we decided to leave. But none of us were hurt thank God. So I just thought that was crazy and totally blog worthy. And I cant wait to see you all in about a month I am very excited.

Much Love and God Bless

Noah

Glorious Adventures with Logan!!

For about the last week and half Logan was here just chillin in the Domincan Republic with me. While he was here it was really cool we put on a electric guitar workshop for the guys who play guitar. It was really good for them to learn new things about the guitar. It was really funny because he played with us on a Sunday and the people in the church had never heard a guitar being played like that, and there eyes got really big it was really cool and they really loved it! Another thing we got to do was record one of the songs Rich had wrote and that was a lot of fun, we wanted do a drum track for it so a friend of ours who does a lot recording new a guy with a drum studio. What they didn't tell till we got there was the guy with studio is one of the best drummers in the D.R. so at first I was like what the heck man this nuts I am gonna look retarded in front of this guy. But I didn't I just played and it went really well. His Ezequiel Francisco and one of the cool things about him is he plays for guy named Juan Luis Guerra who has been nominated for Latin Gramme's and is a very well known worship artist down here. Another thing that happened while he was down here Logan got corn rows put in his hair, it was so funny a friend next door did it, I laughed so hard if you guys could have seen his hair when he took them out, oh my gosh haha. So that was really fun for Rich Logan and I to do since Kirsten and the kids went to Montana to visit her parents for three weeks so it was just us three while he was here. So that is my Glorious Adventure Story with Logan, it was really good to see a friend from the states w had a lot of fun!!

One God. This was a youth event we did at our church a couple of weekends ago. The event turned out really well we had games, dramas, dances, and a performance by a reggae tone group called The Elion Family, and really good worship during the event as well. We had about 10 new first time visitors and three of them gave there life to the Lord and have starting coming to our youth group on Saturdays and church on Sunday mornings! It was really cool with the dances because we did the dances that I had choreographed for our Christmas play we did in December. It was a little different this time we took one person out and added some one different so she had three weeks to learn it and she did a really good job. So over all it was a really good event and our youth group is growing even though our youth pastors, who are missionaries from Columbia, went back to Columbia to raise money for another two years and there gone for three months, but Juan Carlos and Licelot who have taken over while there gone are doing a really good job. So just please pray that our youth group would continue to grow and that God would really just be with John and Diana while they are in Columbia raising money and that He would provide way beyond what they need.

One God. One Love. Now thats out of the way here is what has been going on lately. For about a month Rich and I go out with one of the youth guys from the youth group to a small church in a place called Las Palmas. We go out every other Wednesday to work with the people that lead worship there and are trying to raise up a group of people who have the right heart to be up leading. I say that because here when people are in church they wanna be up on the stage so they can feel that there important and look important to other people in the church who don't sing or play an instrument or preach in the church. Its really hard sometimes because we just run out people to use and things like that. The other crazy thing is this neighborhood is one the most known neighborhood's for drug dealing and having a lot of drug lord type of people, so the some of the people have had problems with that and certain things so that is another problem out there is some of the people are very talented musicians but they can't sing or play because of having problems with drugs and things like that, so were always finding out that certain people cant play which makes out job even harder at certain times. This last Wednesday when we went out there we were gonna hav one the guys we have been working with who plays the guitar play with us but he showed up an hour late to practice and so Rich told he wasn't gonna play with us this time, so he stayed in the service and at the end of the service the pastor asked us to sing a song we didn't know and the only person who knew it was Jonathan who showed up an hour late to practice to play with is. When he first got up there he was really nervous and then he started the song and did a really good job and after the song was over everyone in the church gave him a big round of applause and it was really cool for him to do that because he wasn't able to play with us because he had been struggling through some things and God's presence really just showed up that night so that has been really cool. But the coolest thing for me out of this whole deal is that every time we go i get reminded why were here and that up on that stage playing my cahon drum (the box drum I play on) for the Glory of God and to make a difference in these peoples lives and that is something that I have really had to learn since I have been here because when I first started playing the drums here everyone was in shock because they really had never heard anyone play like I do because there rhythm here is so different than in the states. So I was like ok cool lets show off a little bit and make myself look good, no joke during practice i tried and lost a stick, and as I thought about it, it was like God went and smacked me up side the head and said what are doing kid? So I am trying to start a habit of starting every practice and service with "I am here for the Glory of God nothing else" ever since then I just feel like I am free to worship and go for it during worship and hold nothing back except for hitting the drums really hard because I might make the people go deaf because were in a small building with cement walls so everything echoes a lot. And this weekend were having a big event for the youth called U-turn and were some dances again some dramas and worship and things like that so we are really excited for that it's going to be really good we have heard that a lot of people are coming to that, so please be praying for that and stay tuned for pictures and to see what God is doing in our youth.

Much Love

One God. Well Darla is one my leaders here and I were talking about fast food and all that. And I said I have not had McDonalds in so long and we made a deal that she drove I would pay so said HECK YES!!!! We talked about it for about two weeks and then we finally had the time to go and so we went. And let me tell you that that was the best Big Mac I have ever eaten in my entire life. But not to mention with a large fry and large coke, and then I decided I was still hungry so I went back for a double cheeseburger and a medium fry and a medium mcflurry. I know its a lot of food and definitely a ton of calories to consume in one visit to McDonalds but I must say it was totally worth it. And the only reason I am doing this is because I Love McDonalds so much, the only down side is they don't have a dollar menu which sucks hardcore ha ha just kidding. Well hope all is well with everyone back home!!

One God. One Love. It was so much fun, for all the youth that went it was there first missions trip that they had ever been on. The first day when we got there we made about over half of the benches and we were way ahead of schedule so we decided to stop and just hang out with the people that were there and Pastor Jack shared something that really meant a lot for the youth that went. As he was sharing he began to tell us how long the church had been praying for new chairs to be donated or some type seating to donated, and the cool thing he said was that we were and answer to our prayers. For our youth they were so blessed and felt so good because of what they were doing even though it was only an over night mission trip. For those of you have been on mission trips you know exactly what I'm talking about, you know when you go on a mission trip you just feel like God really speaks to you and its easier for us to hear him speak to us and you feel just this mountain top experience with God and for us, and we go for a week an half or more and the coolest thing was these kids got that same thing even though we there for two days. As I thought about this and why we can hear God so much easier or we think that it is, and it occurred to me that it is so easy when we are in these situations is because we are open because we are on a missions trip or at a camp, and we are out of our normal church area and its different and we go expecting to hear at the same time. Instead of going to church every Saturday or Sunday just going to go, but expecting for God to speak to us about something that had gone through that week or something we have been going through. And as I have been trying to use this mentality of being open on a regular basis it has become easier to hear and understand clearly what He is trying to say. I think that was the thing that I got out of the mission trip along with being able to minister and love on these small community of people. So here are some pictures of what was going on. Oh the sunset was really just to brag about how beautiful this country is that I love in yay me.

One God. It's a little hard seeing everyone in my class came from level 1 and I tested into level 2 is the class I am in right now. In my class there are people from all over the world, there is a married couple from France, two people from Canada, one other person from the US, five people from Haiti, one person from Indonesia, one person from China, and one person from Taiwan. These people are really cool, but it's a little weird because everyone in the class all above the age of 25 except for me I am the young one. My Professor is really cool his name is Francisco Sanchez, and one of the first things he asked me was "Do you have a girlfriend?" I said "No," and this was really funny he said "You need a Dominican girlfriend so you can practice your Spanish," and I just started laughing. But other than that nothing really new has been going down here except for a lot of Spanish learning and speaking. But I do have a prayer request, some of the other missionaries down including us in the Root home have just been either getting sick or just feeling attacked by the enemy and just feeling like we weren't making a difference and certain things like that and it's been a struggle for all of us and so I just ask that you would keep us in your prayers, it really means a lot to us!!

One God. This was with out a doubt probably one of the hardest things I have ever done, for one I went as Santa Clause, and I was supposed to have all this cheer and be excited but it was so hard because there was all these very sick kids and there was about a hundred or so in there and were mostly terminally ill and were not going to leave this Hospital. While were there we would go to the rooms and there was about twelve beds to a room it really wasn't a good situation and the building was not in very good shape at all and it is a free hospital so its not very good for the people who are in it. But what is good about it is the First Lady is trying to get it remodeled and is putting a lot of work into it so that is good. Well here are some just some of pictures of what we did and the people who were in it.

The hard thing about going to the Hospital was pretty much everyone in there wanted something for themselves. They would try and tell us that there was a kid in the next bed but he was in the bathroom but really they just wanted us to put it there so they could take it home for some of there kids in there family. One of the nurses there had asked me to give them a gift for her daughter and I told her that we could only give gifts to the kids that were in the beds and she got mad at me and hit me and I was Santa Clause. To tell you the truth I really just wanted to pull my beard down and say hey look I am not the real Santa Clause and I hit back, it really frustrated me but that is the culture here because that was they were raised and they all want something for them self. The two little twin girls you see were abandoned in a box by there mother, and the only reason they were in the Hospital was because they were malnourished and then being transferred to a government orphanage that doesn't really mean anything. But Rich and Kirsten have been thinking about having the twin girls come stay with us so they can take care of them or at least get them into a Christian orphanage so that Kirsten can go and see them when ever she wants. While we were there we went to every bed and talked to them about God and some things we had in these little books we took with us and then we would ask if they wanted to except Christ into there lives and we had 35 salvations in the Hospital, so that was really good. In the end being Santa Clause was a lot of fun, and while I was there I probably lost about ten pounds in sweat because the Santa suit was felt and there was no air conditioning, but it was a lot of fun and were hoping to go there when Anthem comes down here in June. Hope you enjoyed the tour the Hospital.

One God, One Love, One Mission
Peace Much Love

Feelings on Coming Home?

Well when I first got here all I would talk about was I can't wait for anthem to come down, and how excited I was that they were coming. Rich and Kirsten were like oh no he doesn't like here he just wants to go home. Well now I really don't want to go home I love it here so much. And I don't say that in meaning that I don't miss you all back home, but when you have experienced what I have in the last two months you really wouldn't want to go home either. I know when anthem comes I have to go home but for sure I am coming back. I don't think I could happy any where else and again its not because I love the people here more than you back home it's just I have a feeling that this is where God wants me and I am very happy with that because the people I have become very good friends with have really excepted me for me and have become like family just like it was back home. But I am going to have to find a happy medium on living because what I would like to do is have a house in both places so I can go to either one when ever I want to so who knows but I just felt like I should tell you what I am feeling while I'm down here. So I hope you like reading about whats going down here in the beautiful Republica Dominicana. And by the HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!

Peace Much Love

Christmas

Well this Christmas was a little different, it was pretty warm instead of snowing like it was back home for you guys. Why does it snow when im gone and i have always wanted a white Christmas, not really seeing why that happens. But while you were huddled in side your houses I was here. Outside at a very nice warm tropical beach which felt amazing and we went snorkeling and found some really cool fish that would hide in the rocks and come out and then go back in which was awesome. I don't think any of you are jealous right now because you had snow. But during this Holiday season I got a little discouraged and homesick because I saw everyone here with there families and I wasn't, but this last Sunday some friends and I went to this concert and it was so much fun and it really made me realize that yeah I'm not with my family but I am with the people that I have come to care a lot about and are my really good friends here and that made me feel so much better. And actually we are going to another concert for New Years Eve so I am really excited about that and all the fun that night is going to entail. In the Dominican Republic they have another Holiday called Kings Day, and its about when the three Kings gave presents to everyone and so thats when most of the kids here get there presents from there family. So as a church outreach we are going to a children's hospital and going to give out presents to kids and minister to there families that are there so we are very excited about that, and the cool thing is I get to dress up as Santa Clause. So I hope the next time you read my blog, which I hope you do, that you bring a kleenex with you because i think you might need it at least I know my dad will when he reads it. So I hope you all had a very good Christmas and have a wonderful New Year Dios de Bendiga, which means God Bless in Spanish.

First Production

Well this Saturday we performed our first of two performances for our Christmas play. It was awesome we had a packed out building. It was really cool because most of the kids in the youth group parents are not Christians and don't go to church at all, and most of the family members you don't come to church were there and it was really good. I'm pretty sure your wondering if I had any lines in the play, I did, I had the most lines in my scene it was really cool. I was the lead shepherd in the play and when angel Gabriel comes and surprises the shepherds I have to scream like a girl and hide behind the other two and everyone thought that was hilarious. But after Gabriel says something my line is "Hay mi madre" in english it means like oh my gosh, and I had to say it like I was very scared, it was great me and another kid in the play stole the show is what I was told by the amount of laughter by the crowd which makes me feel good because it makes me feel like I'm apart of something rather than the new kid or the big gringo kid in the church. When we had to get ready for the play we all had to wear make up and everyone thought it was so funny when I had to put it on because the blush I had on stood out more than everyone else's cause I'm the white kid so that was weird but funny at the same time. Rich was also in the play, he played Joseph, he did great. Everyone thought he was hilarious because they recorded our voices and we had to mouth our lines and when he mouthed his he expressed very well and opened his mouth very wide when he would say his lines and everyone thought it was so funny. Well after the play Charlie who is the Pastor at the church gave a little message and then gave an alter call and we had about 15 salvations which was awesome and we still have one more performance and still more souls to be won for His Kingdom so I am very excited about that. Its really cool to see how God uses our talents to win people for him and its cool because He is using me through dancing and being able to move with some style which is really fun for me, which if you don't know I really like dancing and I have just learned a Latino way to dance which also really fun so thats cool. But please be praying that this next performance we would have the even more people come to Christ and that they would start coming to church and not just come on Holidays. Thanks.

Peace Much Love

Making Friends

Well since I have been down here I have made a lot of friends. It was a little rough at first because only like four out of the twenty kids in the youth group speak english and my spanish is a little rough, but it is coming a long very nicely. I have really made a lot of friends especially because of the Christmas play we are doing, and me choreographing dances and teaching then dances and them teaching me spanish, one of the girls that has helped me choreograph the dances speaks a little english but always makes me practice my spanish all the time. Which gets a little frustrating because its hard to explain things for me but it has helped me a lot. But it feels really good to make friends it makes me not miss home so much and all that. Its crazy because the friends I have made here are exactly like the friends at home so its like nothing really changed which makes me feel really good. Well stay in touch and keep checking out my blog so you can see how our Christmas play went.
Well I'm pretty sure you are all wondering how I'm doing since I am not at home for the Holidays this year. To start its pretty weird to not be at home with family and friends, but this thanksgiving was really fun we all got together and ate, I ate til I was uncomfortable, one of the pastors there was so amazed at how much food i was eating. Everyone else's plate was in sections and not very big, mine on the other hand was the Wimberly Thanksgiving style plate mounded and lots of everything, it was so good I had to go back twice. Then we came home and I went over to the neighbors house cause she has cable and I watched some football that made me feel like I was at home. After that my family and I, and along with some other friends that were there, we had ourselves a little video chat so it was almost like I was at home except on a computer screen. But all around it was a pretty normal Thanksgiving day. The next Holiday might be a little bit harder who knows, I know for a fact its going to be hard not being with my family on Christmas but I know God has called me down here for a reason and its gonna be alright cause its in his hands not mine. But on the other hand this will probably one of the only times in my life where I will get to go to a tropical beach on Christmas which is going to be awesome. The beaches here are amazing nice and clear and warm. I will be sure to post pictures when the time comes for that just to make you all a little jealous, oh I'm just kidding. Well thats enough about all the Holidays lets to get to the good stuff, like whats going on down here in the D.R. Well the church youth group is putting on a Christmas production that I just happen to be involved in. I am choreographing three dances that will be performed during the play, also I am the lead Shepard so I have the most lines in my scene. To me I thought i was the one with out any lines since the American, nope not at all they thought it would be funny to have a Shepard who speaks Spanish with an American accent, well i guess I'm gonna have to show them whats up ha ha, not really everybody in the play has given me advice on how to say my lines and all that so they are really helping. And this year were putting together Christmas baskets for different churches in the area for them to give out so thats cool. Other than the dances and the play and the Christmas baskets that is pretty much it that is going on down here besides me doing worship stuff with Rich for now thats all. Well I miss all of you a lot and I wish you all very Happy Holidays.

P.S. For those of you who have tried txt messaging me I am very sorry we have been having problems with that but I think we have almost got it figured hopefully but I promise as soon it gets fixed I will txt you all back. So please pray that will work out for me.

Well this weekend has been very long but also very fun. This weekend Kirsten and I went to a culture class to learn about the Dominican Culture. We both learned a lot, and the cool thing is we met a lot of really cool people from different places around the D.R. and a couple them invited me to go stay with them when ever i want and we said the same to them. One of the coolest things about this was almost everybody there were Christians and God was really involved in the entire class. Well Saturday night we had what they call a formal cena which is basically a formal dinner, which was a lot of fun. After the dinner they taught us how to Bachate and Merenge which are two types of dances down here, they are a lot of fun. Well Patti, the lady who ran the class, would not let do anything or leave until I danced and she made me dance with her the entire night. It was a little weird considering that she was in her 50's it was just a little weird for me but i had a lot of fun. Well Kirsten wouldn't let me hog the dance floor so she jumped in and danced with on of the four guys the Patti had come to help us learn how to dance and trust me they were really good. Well the party had to stop at 11:30 because the people who owned the place wanted the music off by that time, we were a little bummed that we didn't get to keep dancing. But the funny thing is the music didn't stop the four guys who came to teach us have been singing in a four part harmony together for the past six months. I'm not even kidding you they guys were so good it was unreal. They are all Christians and they lead worship at there local church. Here are some videos for your pleasure. Oh and the next morning they sang a song they wrote that is about a little girl who couldn't find her dad, and they came up with it on the fly it was awesome. Oh sorry the video is in Spanish.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v24.nonxt4.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D4c139db1c304b3e1%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331183123%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D3E856DDBD901C1D16C931634B989F334899E651D.6B4DC5880502E260150B80B97EE1DA05A37ADDD3%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D4c139db1c304b3e1%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DDpCHtxzuZ6SmsXZNmFinFQCHq5k&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Outreaches!!

This last Tuesday and Wednesday myself and a team from Florida went to two very small villages. Tuesday we went to a village that was underwater for three days because of all the flooding that came from Hurricane Noel. I did have tons of pictures to post but they got deleted off my camera by accident, which really made angry because there was some really good pictures i had. While we were there we cleaned out the church that was completely caked in mud. And we also cleaned a house for a single mother with two kids. We also cooked food for the community it was really neat. Then on Wednesday we went to this little Haitian village that was crazy! The people there were second or third generation immigrants so they spoke Spanish instead of creole. While we were there we gathered all the kids into the school and sang bible songs and told them a bible story and then set up tables for them to color on we made bracelets for them, that was hard cause they rushed us and we couldn't make the bracelets fast enough it was pretty fun. After that we painted this house with a bright salmon color and the doors a bright peach color. The Haitians love bright and vibrant colors and on Sundays were gonna try and go out and finish painting the other houses that are out there. Here are some picture of the villages we went to this past week!! And those two girls love pictures they asked me to take about five or six because they loved seeing themselves on camera its so cute!! Stay tuned for the great action down here in the DR!! Love you all

My first week in the DR

My first week has been good rich and kirsten have just let me have time to get acclimated to the time zone, culture, and all that good stuff. Its really hot and really humid down here but im getting used to it. When i first arrived it was during hurricane noel and the locals had never seen so much rain since the 90's i believe. As for the language part its pretty challenging but im working on it and getting better with my spanish so that part is really good. I will have pictures posted as soon as the internet on my laptop get all figured out, sorry about the delay on blogging. Since I have been here it has made me realize what i left behind with family and friends drumming with really close friends and a very good band. Not saying the band is bad at all its just way different from home but God has place me here for a reason and I have a feeling that it involves drumming alot. And this Thursday I have my first lesson with boy by the name of Miguelito who has a natural talent in drumming so Rich has asked me to teach him and help there other drummer Carlos who is good as well.

Well stay tuned for what God is doing down here in the DR miss all of you!!
